What opened on October 15
The @Kling_ai post from October 15, 2026 (status 2110747537187709424) states the release in one line: «KLING 4.0 Is Now Fully Available.» From that day the full model is available in the updated editor on kling.ai and in the official MCP and CLI for agent workflows.
The same announcement lists coming-soon items: 10-bit HDR and an API for companies and developers. Marketing pages may still show an older «soon» banner — for the access date, trust the X post and the current user guide.
Before October 15 some users only saw the lighter Kling 4.0 Flash tier on top plans. Full 4.0 left early access on that day.
Kling 4.0 specs from the official guide
The Kling 4.0 user guide (kling.ai/quickstart/kling-4-model-user-guide, dated October 14, 2026) locks in the working limits at full release.
One Omni Reference job can combine up to 10 images, up to 5 videos totaling no more than 30 seconds, up to 7 elements (including up to 3 video elements) and voice profiles — with a hard cap of 15 inputs.
Flash mode covers faster, cheaper drafts; a separate Keyframes entry helps when beat timing on the timeline matters.

MCP and CLI instead of a public API
On release day Kling 4.0 still had no public HTTP API: the developer page said Coming Soon. Official MCP and CLI work after signing into a Kling account — a path for agents and local scripts without waiting for the API.
For production that means you can already automate prompt batches via CLI/MCP, but billing stays tied to Kling web plans, not a separate API price list. Do not invent API rates — they are not public yet.
What changes in business video production
Doubling max clip length to 30 seconds and offering ten keyframes covers cases where teams used to stitch two or three 3.0 runs. One request can cover a short ad block or a multi-beat action scene.
In practice, making videos with AI still bottlenecks on script, take selection and platform adaptation more often than on the render itself.
- 9:16 feed ads — one clip up to 30s without gluing two generations
- product series with multiple angles via Omni Reference
- drafts on Flash, finals on full 4.0 at 1080p or 4K
- agent pipelines via MCP/CLI without waiting for a public API
Batches and seeding
When you need hundreds of geo and language versions, not one hero clip, Kling 4.0 is a master-clip source. Those masters then go through versioning and into mass posting.
The mass vertical videos format is built for batches from about 100 videos a month: the model supplies sources; production covers volume, moderation and account layout.
To compare with the previous generation, start with the Kling 3.0 overview and the 2026 guide to AI video models — they lock in 3.x pricing and limits used for upgrade decisions.
What is still coming
The October 15 announcement explicitly defers 10-bit HDR and a public API. HDR is still coming soon for 1080p and 4K in the guide; extending a clip to two minutes is a separate future feature.
For near-term budgets count what is already in the UI: credits per second at 720p/1080p, Pro and higher plans with a 10% Kling 4.0 discount, and no separate API tariff.
