Pika Is Now Inside ChatGPT: What It Means for Business

On October 16, 2026 Pika announced a partnership with OpenAI and shipped the Pika X ChatGPT extension: Pika's tools now run inside the chat and the side panel. Here is what is available, how cost is handled, and where the plugin stops short of production.

What Was Announced on October 16, 2026

At 18:41 UTC on October 16, 2026 the Pika account on X announced a partnership with OpenAI and the Pika X ChatGPT extension: "All of Pika's creative tools are now directly in your chat and side panel." The extension page is at pika.art/mcp/chatgpt.

The phrasing "in your chat and side panel" is the point. This is not a separate service and not a link out to the Pika site, but work inside the interface people already have open.

02

What the Plugin Contains

According to the extension page, you get:

That last item deserves its own line: trimming, regenerating clips, transitions, effects and music are handled through a text request rather than a trip to an editor. For rough cuts that saves time, since the storyboard and the edit no longer live in two separate tools.

  • 40+ tools and 55+ models (the page FAQ says "over 100" models are available through Pika's apps);
  • video, images, music, SFX and speech;
  • an in-line UI inside the chat;
  • full access to the Pika library;
  • timeline editing on request.
03

Video Models on the List

The plugin includes Seedance 2.5, Seedance 2.0 and 2.0 Mini, MiniMax H3, Wan 3.0, Kling 3.0, Google Veo 3.1 and 3.1 Fast, Google Omni Flash, Grok Imagine Video, FLUX 3 and Pika 2.5, among others.

One detail matters for planning: Kling 4.0 is not on that list, Kling 3.0 is. We covered the generational gap in a separate piece, so see the Kling 4.0 review for what 30 seconds and up to 10 keyframes actually buy you. If your pipeline already targets 4.0, the plugin does not cover every scenario.

The same toolset is available to agents through Pika MCP (pika.art/mcp), which means generation can be triggered from your own system rather than only from a chat window.

04

Apps: From Ads to Re-Shooting an Angle

Applications included in the plugin:

Product Ad and Product Shot are the business-facing ones: they build a promo from a product photo and a brief, with no shoot involved. That is the same class of work as making videos with AI from client-supplied materials.

AppWhat it does
Video Studioup to 30-second video, multi-shot
Product Adan ad from a photo and a brief
Product Shota product hero frame
Swap Anythingobject replacement in frame
Camera Directorre-shoot a clip from another angle
Motion Transfermotion transfer

Install and Cost

Installation is free: use the button on the page or type "Install the Pika plugin," then sign in to your Pika account. Installing costs nothing.

After that, normal Pika mechanics apply:

Reviews published on October 16 (artrealmai.com) mention 250 bonus credits granted after the first generation through the plugin. That is review data rather than the official page, so check it in your own account.

  • by default the plugin shows a cost estimate before generation;
  • generations themselves spend Pika credits;
  • credits are a consumable resource, not a subscription to the tool.
06

What It Gives a Business

The real effect is not a new model but a shorter distance between an idea and a draft. Script, storyboard, generation and a first edit live in one window, which changes how fast tests run.

  • Fast hook checks: generate the first 3 to 5 seconds without starting full production.
  • Rough storyboards: assemble a sequence of clips and see whether the story reads.
  • One library: everything made through the plugin sits in the Pika library rather than in a chat thread.
07

Where the Plugin Stops Short of Production

The limits show up quickly. The plugin generates material and can assemble a draft, but it does not cover three things.

First, volume. Batches call for dozens of versions run with identical settings, not one-off generations. That is how mass vertical videos and mass posting across platforms and geos get built.

Second, per-platform adaptation: aspect ratios, covers, opening seconds and captions for each destination. That stage does not disappear because a chat window can generate.

Third, versions of one piece of material. That is where versioning comes in: different opening frames, different music tracks, different delivery, so a series does not read as a single file. We covered separately how versioning differs from copy detection.

Testing an idea in ChatGPT and shipping a batch of videos are different tasks with different unit economics. Manual videos with complex staging start at $190 with us, while mass vertical formats run on views at $2.40 per 1000 views.

What to Do This Week

Install the plugin and check which models on the list are available on your plan.

  • Run one full storyboard inside the chat and note the credits it consumed.
  • Compare the result against what you get from models outside Pika.
  • Decide which tasks stay in the chat and which go to production.
  • Settle whether Kling 3.0 inside the plugin is enough, or you need 4.0 in your own setup.
